Hi, Kathleen...I think it is amazing what you are doing and the cause for which you are running is an important one. My Dad, Sam DuBois, died of a brain aneurysm on Aug. 10, 2000, just 16 days before I married my husband. His aneurysm leaked while he was on the golf course with my brother who took him to Meritcare where they found the aneurysm after an angiogram. He did have the clipping surgery but never woke up after his surgery. They were giving him fluids to fight off vasospasms and his brain swelled and he was declared brain dead 5 days after his surgery. He was the greatest man and is so dearly missed every day! I am so lucky to have had him as my Dad and miss him so much ~ I and my family would be honored to have his name on the list of individuals you will be remembering on your run. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWOW. MY HEART IS SO HEAVY FOR YOUR LOAD. IT'S HARD TO READ YOUR STORY WITHOUT TEARS WELLING UP IN MY EYES. I AM TERRIBLY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, AND PLEASE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THAT I AM PROUD TO HELP KEEP YOUR DAD'S MEMORY ALIVE. I KNOW HE DOESN'T KNOW ME, BUT I SUSPECT SAM AND I WILL BE BUDDIES BY THE TIME I CROSS THE FINISH LINE. I HOPE TO MEET YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. AND, I AM HONORED TO RUN FOR SAM DuBOIS. GOD BLESS.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen...I think it's great that you are doing this! My grandma, Diane Arthurs suffered a brain aneurysm at the age of 38. She had the necessary surgery and then also suffered a stroke. She survived but is paralyzed on one side of her body. She requires the use of a cane and leg brace to help her walk. My grandma has been a huge part of my life and I truly consider her an inspiration to others. I would be honored to have her on the list. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteYOU CAN DO IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing, strong women you are! My mom, Sharon Steinbach, suffered a brain aneurysm on November 29th, 1999. It was the Sunday after Thanksgiving that year and we were going to celebrate that day but instead my entire family surrounded my mom at Meritcare. The Doctors at Meritcare decided that she needed to be transported to Rochester. My dad flew with her while the rest of us drove. Unfortunately, she had a second aneurysm shortly after arriving in Rochester and passed away at the age of 44. This was also 5 months before the date of my wedding. There still is not a day that goes by that my heart does not ache from the loss of my mom. I miss her dearly. I would be more than honored if you would include her name on your list. Thank you.
Oh Christy, I'm so sorry. She was so young...44? It is my honor to include her on my list, and to remember her thruoghout this journey. I know the pain of losing someone too young. My brother died at just 21. Although, he's not my mom, and I can't even begin to pretend to understand that pain, I do understand the physical and emotional pain that losing someone so tragically brings, and my heart aches with you. I thank you for sharing your mom with us/me. I will handle her name and memory with great care and pride. Will be participating in the Fargo marathon? Do you live in Fargo? Kathleen
